Xtinguish™ Plus
For Veterinary Use Only
Nutritional Supplement for Intestinal Health
PACKAGING: 2 lb. pail
Provides conditionally essential nutrients to horses during rehabilitation.
Many horses under veterinary supervision experience health-related problems, which result in digestive upset and unbalanced digestive ecosystem. This causes intestinal microbial breakdown. These situations demand immediate and effective support to restore the digestive
tract environment to its proper balance. Without
adequate support, horses can suffer from
inconsistent stool, laminitis, colic or death.
Xtinguish™ Plus from Progressive Nutrition VeterinaryCare™ is an innovative nutritional supplement containing selective nutrients that support the horse’s digestive ecosystem, returning it to normal, consequently avoiding detrimental and disastrous complications. Xtinguish™ Plus works on the entire digestive system from the stomach through the large intestine, providing conditionally essential nutrients to restore and maintain normal homeostatic balance.
Applications of Xtinguish™ Plus — to help ensure or restore a normal
digestive ecosystem
Conditions include:
- Grain overload
- Post-Operative colic surgery
- Rehabilitation or stall rest after trauma
- Overconsumption of lush spring pasture
- Overheating/Fever
- Normal intestinal micro flora death
Where does Xtinguish™ Plus work?
Stomach - Horses that are exposed to abnormal environmental conditions or are in situations of rehabilitation from surgery/trauma are at risk for
gastric upset and ulcer symptoms. Xtinguish™ Plus
contains Nutritional Gastric Technology, which has
shown in research to reduce gastric upset by over
70% when compared to a control group8 (Figure 1).
Nutritional Gastric Technology provides nutrients
that initiate a cascade of cell-signaling events that
continue well after the nutrients leave the stomach.
Targeted nutrient feeding, including amino acids and
polyamines which are effective even in the presence
of inhibitors, restore epithelial cell unions and cover
exposed membranes. Xtinguish™ Plus also contains
nutrients that research has shown to improve
gastric mucosal barrier, along with improved healing
and lesion repair times.
Small and Large Intestine - The digestive tract contains large quantities of microbes, which are essential to normal gut health. Many situations can disrupt the homeostatic balance of microbes, causing microbial death and their resulting complications. Xtinguish™ Plus incorporates several nutrients, including Saccharomyces boulardii (Active Dried Yeast) and ImmunoLin*, that are shown in research to reduce the risks associated with microbial death and its possible disastrous results. Saccharomyces boulardii has been shown to be useful in horses suffering from enterocolitis1. Furthermore, Saccharomyces boulardii has shown great promise inhibiting Escherichia coli endotoxin via dephosphorylation3. ImmunoLin helps promote the immune response of gut-associated lymphoid tissues (GALT) to help reduce the absorption of harmful digestive contents, including the cell walls of dead bacterial.
Whole Body - During times of normal microbial fermentation, the horse produces enough Niacin and Thiamin to meets its own needs. Unfortunately, when the microbial population becomes compromised, this fermentation is disrupted along with the B-Vitamin production, leading to impaired recovery and overall health. Xtinguish™ Plus provides elevated levels of B-Vitamins to meet the essential metabolic and body function needed during certain situations.
