Born and raised in the Midwest, Tom attended college at the University of Nebraska, majoring in Pre Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation Tom received a Masters degree in Animal Nutrition. After graduate school Tom has worked in the animal nutrition and feed business since 1980 and has managed an equine feed business for over 17 years.

Tom and his wife Sally live in Denison, Iowa and have three sons. Two sons attend college in the Midwest and one son is in middle school. Tom and family members have enjoyed horses throughout their lives and continue ride and breed quarter horses. They also have a strong interest in raising stock dogs.
